Profile

I am a creative and passionate yoga teacher.  I love to teach authentic styles of yoga, I also enjoy bringing in other elements of creative movement and drills to enhance the fun and variety.  I aim to be warm, kind and understanding.  I like to encourage people to make their practise mindful, asking them to really feel into each pose, flowing in and out of asana with fluidity and grace.

Relevant Work Experience

January  2024 to present

Yoga Teacher

Hotpod Northampton and Daventry.

Teaching a regular 60 minute Hotpod Flow class on Mondays at 17:30 and Wednesdays at 9:30 from the Northampton studio.  Also teaching on Tuesdays at 19:00 and alternate Saturdays at the Daventry studio, as well as covering various other class levels and time slots.  We arrive early to set up the pod, making sure the essential oils are flowing and the music and heat are adjusted to the correct levels.  We have access to regular training courses and videos to help our progression.  Teaching to varying levels of ability, we share the signature Hotpod Flow that builds familiarity, with an emphasis on assisting and helping you go deeper into the poses.  Repetition over time builds a deeper understanding of your own practise and with regular attendance breeds discipline.  I teach 1:1 bespoke classes, have a weekly class at a hall in Market Harborough, teaching gentle yoga to seniors, and am a cover teacher at various other studios.  As well as teaching classes I have also organised two Yoga Rhythm 90 minute workshops.

Company Owner

The Yoga Cafe Ltd

I started a Ltd Company called The Yoga Cafe Ltd with my business partner; supported by the New Enterprise Allowance, which is a government scheme supporting new business start-ups through The Job Centre.   We had the opportunity to attend networking events and enrolled on short courses on Business planning, marketing and advertising.

The Yoga Cafe itself was going to be a wellbeing hub consisting of a health food Cafe, yoga studio and holistic treatment rooms.   We were awarded a £10,000 loan from Northampton Borough Council to open The Yoga Cafe in Northampton.  We ran an online business in the meantime offering yoga/food workshops, healthy catering, 1:1 yoga classes and wellbeing tuition.  Holding lunchtime Yoga classes with lunch included evening yoga classes.

I was responsible for the bookkeeping, assisting with writing the business plan and updating the social media.  I organised the yoga classes, managed the bookings, planned the menu, ordered stock and cooked the food for the lunch club and catering jobs.  I was responsible for marketing and advertising for the classes ,which consisted of a blog The Yoga Cafe | Behind every healthy body is a healthy mind and behind every healthy mind is a healthy diet. (wordpress.com), a facebook page, and would often scout for new venues to hold more classes and find opportunities to network.

Although our plan never manifested, I am delighted to see that so many beautiful studios have opened up since, and am so grateful to have had this experience.
